The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's newest cycle tunnel, is opened as part the 42-kilometer cycle route which runs through the capital.

It connects Nahal Refaim to Emek Motza. Its southern entry is located within Refaim Park under Ein Laban.  נווה פריצקי The northern entrance, Nahal Ein Kerem, is about half a kilometer away from the Nahal Ein Kerem junction.

The 2.1-kilometer-long tunnel was inaugurated by Jerusalem's Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin. The ceremony was also attended by Mayor Moshelion Avi Balehnikov Gihon Water Company Chairman, as well as many cyclists.

Elkin, whose ministry was spearheaded the project along with Jerusalem Municipality stated that his ministry invested hundreds of millions of shekels each year in the development of Jerusalem's tourism and also in the creation of new activities and ventures that will connect the magnificent historical past and the future of Jerusalem. Elkin's Ministry Tourism Ministry, Jerusalem Municipality and Gihon Corporation contributed approximately NIS 25,000,000 for the project.  נווה פריצקי Work was performed by the Jerusalem Development Authority.

The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the late 1990s to relocate the main sewer line of the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant located in Sorek, which is located to the west of the city.  נווה פריצקי It is currently being used as an infrastructure tunnel. It also houses the fifth water line that connects to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water company.
